Privacy Policy

Moonitor is a cryptocurrency portfolio tracker. Your holdings are stored on your own device, not on our servers. This page explains the few places where that is not the whole story, because a policy that only said “we store nothing” would be untrue of the website you are reading it on.

The apps: your holdings stay on your device

In Moonitor for iPhone and Moonitor for desktop, your portfolios, transactions, holdings, watchlist and settings are stored locally. On iPhone, turning on iCloud sync writes that same data to your private iCloud container so it reaches your other devices. That container belongs to your Apple account, and we cannot read it.

Market prices are requested directly from the public APIs of the exchanges you choose, from your device. Those requests carry no Moonitor identifier.

Price alerts on iPhone

Alerts that arrive while the app is closed need a server, because iOS will not keep Moonitor running in the background to watch a market for you. When you enable them, and only then, the app sends:

  • a randomly generated identifier, so your own devices can be grouped together. It is not derived from you, your device or your Apple account;
  • an Apple Push Notification service token, so a notification can reach you;
  • the alerts themselves: the exchange, the market symbol, the direction, and the target price.

That is the complete list. The server never receives your portfolios, transactions, quantities, holdings, balances, name or email address. The most it can observe is that an anonymous identifier would like to know when a market crosses a price.

Turning the feature off removes those alerts from the server, and Settings › Erase all data deletes the account record, its push tokens and its alerts outright.

This website and your Moonitor account

An account is only needed to buy and manage a desktop licence. The apps themselves have no account and no sign-in.

If you sign in, we store your email address, and your name and profile image when Google provides them. Sign-in is handled by Google or by a one-time link sent to your email. Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles your card details. We never see them. We keep the resulting subscription or licence record.

The website uses Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you. The apps contain no analytics of any kind.

Purchases

Moonitor Pro on iPhone is sold by Apple as an in-app purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details, and whether the purchase exists is checked on your device.

What we do not do

No advertising, no third-party trackers, no profiling, and nothing sold or shared. Moonitor contains no advertising SDK and no attribution SDK.

Deleting your data

App data lives on your device, so uninstalling removes it; iCloud data is removed through iOS Settings. To delete a website account and everything attached to it, email us and we will remove it.

Children

Moonitor is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date above changes with it, and the new version is published here before the change takes effect.
