Delta is one of the few portfolio trackers with a real desktop app, which is why people who want to track crypto on a computer often end up comparing it with Moonitor. The two look similar on screen and are built on opposite ideas about where your data should live.
This page sets out the difference as fairly as we can. Details on Delta come from its help center and product announcements, checked in September 2026; its plans change, so check Delta's own site for current prices.
The difference in one sentence
Delta is a cloud service with apps on top: you sign in, and your portfolio syncs through its servers. Moonitor is an app with no service behind it: no sign-in, and your portfolio stays on your machine.

What Delta does better
- Automatic sync. Connect an exchange, a broker or a wallet and your balances update themselves.
- More than crypto. If you want stocks and crypto in one view, Delta covers both. Moonitor tracks crypto only.
- Android. Moonitor has no Android app.
What Moonitor does differently
No account, and no eToro
Delta has been owned by eToro since 2019, and signing in to Delta now goes through eToro. Its help center describes linking an eToro account as a step in setting up the desktop and web apps. That is fine if you already use eToro, and an odd requirement if you just want to watch a few coins.
Moonitor has no account of any kind. Install it and start.
Your portfolio stays on your machine
Because Delta syncs between devices through its own servers, your holdings and history live there too. Moonitor has no server holding your portfolio. The desktop app's only outbound requests are for public prices, and sync, if you want it, goes through iCloud or a folder you already sync yourself.
No API keys
Delta's automatic tracking runs on exchange connections and wallet addresses. Moonitor asks for neither: it reads public prices and you record what you hold. It is more typing, and nobody else ends up with a record of your balances. Crypto portfolio tracker without API keys makes the full case.
Linux
Delta's desktop apps are for Mac and Windows. Moonitor also runs on Linux, as a .deb, an .rpm or an AppImage, on 64-bit and Arm.
Pay once
Delta's paid tiers are subscriptions. Moonitor's free version covers up to 5 coins, 1 portfolio and unlimited transactions with no time limit, and Pro removes the limits for a single payment.
Moving from Delta
Moonitor does not import from Delta, because it does not connect to other services. The quickest way over is to enter each coin you hold as one purchase at your average cost, then record new trades as you make them. How to track your crypto portfolio on desktop covers the steps.
